Power 904 Hawaii, is hosting the American Idol Military Auditions Tour to showcase the talents of military personnel and their families. This internship program invites both college students and professionals to gain hands-on experience in media production, event coordination, marketing, and community engagement for a high-profile, nationally broadcast event on ABC.
💼 Internship Opportunities
Media Production
Create the magic behind the scenes! Produce promotional content, support live broadcasts, and work with professional equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce social media videos and web content
- Operate professional audio/video equipment
- Capture behind-the-scenes footage
- Support American Idol's production team
Required Skills:
- Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or Audacity
- Broadcasting/live streaming experience
- Social media content creation
- Professional video production knowledge
Event Coordination
Make it happen! Coordinate logistics, manage venue setup, and ensure seamless event execution for 100-200 attendees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate audience ticketing and seating
- Manage stage setup and teardown
- Handle security and base access protocols
- Oversee audience flow management
Required Skills:
- Event planning and logistics
- Strong organizational skills
- Crowd management experience
- Military protocol knowledge (preferred)
Marketing & Promotions
Spread the word! Develop campaigns, create promotional materials, and analyze performance across digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop social media campaigns (24+ posts)
- Create digital flyers and web banners
- Support radio countdown segments
- Analyze campaign performance
Required Skills:
- Graphic design (Canva, Photoshop)
- Social media marketing
- Content creation expertise
- Campaign analytics experience
Community Engagement
Connect and inspire! Engage, promote participation, and facilitate audience interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage 27,500+ community members
- Promote military participation
- Support contestant outreach

Training & Support:
- Orientation: Power 904 operations, MWR protocols, and American Idol standards
- Technical Workshops: Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, broadcasting equipment
- Safety Training: Base access and military protocol briefings
- Supervision: Report to Patience "Smokey" Burroughs and MWR representatives
- Evaluation: Weekly check-ins and final performance review

Who Can Apply:
Requirements:
- Current students in Media, Communications, Marketing, Event Management, or related fields
- Professionals with relevant experience in media, events, marketing, or community engagement
- Strong interest in media, event planning, or community engagement
- Ability to work on-site at Fort Shafter and remotely
- Reliable transportation and internet access
- Must pass background check for base access
